Use a quote

Hi Everybody!

Thanks to all who entered our last challenge, and welcome to the current one,
'Use a quote', hosted by our lovely Michele.  She is also offering a prize,
so without further ado, here she is:

"i love quotes and sayings so i chose "use a quote" as our theme for the next two weeks.

the beautiful woman is matilda sissieretta joyner jones, an american opera soprano from the 1800s. the image is from the lunagirl african american CD; the wings are also from lunagirl, the rainbow wings collage sheet; the background of clouds is from a retired tumblefish studios kit.  i also used a french script rubber stamp (company unknown), paper tape and ribbon.  the quote is by maya angelou.

here we have the very famous and glamorous josephine baker, an american born entertainer, intellectual and activist.  the image is from the lunagirl african american CD; the wings are also from lunagirl, the rainbow wings collage sheet; the background is from twisted papers (i think their store is now closed); the enamel dots, felt leaf and ribbon are from my stash.  the saying come from a tim holtz ideology "small talk" sticker set.

speaking of stickers, because of my enormous sticker stash i'm giving another sticker stash prize for this challenge, i'll mail anywhere so no problem.  have fun with this challenge!"

Thanks Michele! As always, you have 2 weeks to link to us, and I am very much looking forward to seeing
your entries. Have fun!

And Sandie has chosen a winner from the 'have a heart' entries.
The lucky girl this time is πŸ’—Fraenzi FirlefanzπŸ’— with tag no 15 - congratulations! Please contact Sandie at the following address:

Anything goes

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge, and this time
it's my turn to be hosting. My theme is
*** Anything goes ***

Tags of all formats are welcome, real, digital
or hybrid, so hope to see you linking up to us here.

And there will be a prize this month for one participant
whose name will be pulled out of the hat - a surprise
package of crafting goodies /embellishments.

I'm starting off with a very simple tag. I used some
printed kraft paper for the BG, which I sewed
onto some recycled card to give it more
stability. I then added some coordinating feathers
and a stamped quote (Tim Holtz) - done! It doesn't have to
be anything complicated....

Looking forward to visiting your blogs in the
next 2 weeks, have fun and be creative!

New Beginnings

Hi Everybody!
Happy New Year to you all!

Today we are beginning a new challenge here and the
lovely and talented Wilma is hosting.

I am posting the challenge a day earlier this time to
welcome in the new year!
But now, over to Wilma:

'Happy New Year to all... I feel very excited to be starting off another year of Tag Tuesday. It's a time of new beginnings, reflection on the past, looking forward and counting our blessings.  My intention was to present a series of tags for display. This didn't quite work out with so much happening in our household during the festive season.

So, for my only tag so far for this theme, I used an old broken zipper to  reveal something different from the background. This comparison between the two sections of the tag signifies the beginning of a new year... as if brightness and happiness are bursting forth. Some snippets of the past are still visible and to be remembered, but the future is looking promising  - to enjoy!

I used no special techniques for this tag - just various papers cut into strips or torn and pasted down onto a luggage tag. I printed out the 'years' on an inkjet printer and some of the background is made from sticky tape transfers of newspaper. The tag is finished off with a gold ribbon hanger.
I wish you all a creative, positive and happy year and I am looking forward to all your beautiful tags this fortnight. '

The challenge will run for 2 weeks, as always, and the next challenge
will start on Tuesday in 2 weeks.

Happy 2018 to you and yours!

Christmas memories

Hi Everybody!

Today we are beginning a new challenge, and our lovely Joan
is hosting. This time the challenge will run for three weeks,
and the next challenge will be on
January 2nd 2018.
As always, tags of all formats are allowed,
and we look forward to seeing your creations.
Now I'll let Joan tell you all about it:

"The challenge I picked is Christmas Memories. I have always loved Christmas! My mother made sure we had a wonderful holiday. One of my favorite things was visiting Santa Claus. My first tag features a Gecko Galz Santa image.
Another thing I loved about Christmas was the boxes and boxes of ornaments my mother had. Decorating the tree took several days. We had a live tree and the house smelled of pine. My mother made a big snowman out of paper machΓ© that we put by the tree each year. My second tag has a pine tree background with a snowman die cut.

Happy Holidays to everyone!"

Thanks to all who entered the last challenge!

Seasonal greetings to you all!

Hope to see you back here in 2018!

Anything goes - include some lime green

Hi Everybody!

The past two weeks have flown by, and now it's time for another
challenge. Thanks to all who entered such beautiful and
varied tags for Michele's music challenge.
This time our lovely Wendy is hosting, and has chosen
'Anything goes - include some lime green'
for her theme, so here she is to tell you all about it:

"With Christmas fast approaching I hope the theme of Anything goes will make life a little bit easier for you all. Lime green is one of my favourite colours so I would like you include some of the colour on your 'anything goes' tags.
Of the two I have made one is family orientated and the other has lots of layers and textures. On the family one, I think the middle girl is my mum, and the lady behind her my Nan. I really am not sure, and there is no-one left to ask. What a shame our ancestors didn't write on the back of photos to say who they are.
Looking forward to seeing your tags, have a super Christmas."

And Michele just contacted me to say that her hubby picked a
winner for the prize from her last challenge,
and the lucky lady is
Congrats!
Please contact me with your addy and I will get it off to Michele!

I am also looking forward to seeing your creations, and hope you will
find time to join us. Have fun!

Music

Hi Everybody!

Thanks to all who joined in Sandie's challenge
last time,we enjoyed viewing the entries, which
were all beautiful.
Today it's our lovely  Michele's turn to be hosting,
and
she has chosen 'music' as her theme,
and there will be a giveaway!
So without more ado, here  is Michele to tell
you all about it:

'i love music so i chose it for my theme.  for this challenge i will choose a winner and will mail some stickers to the winner, wherever you are in the world.  i have mass quantities of fun stickers! here is my inspiration for you!

to make this tag i took out my supremes stamp from the stampsmith and stamped it on paper from the gatsby paper pack by gecko galz.  i covered my tag base in paper from the chocolate box paper pack also by gecko galz.  the letters i used came from mischief circus from the fantastical steampunk add on kit.  the star stamps are from cherry arte stamps (appears to no longer be in business). there are a few stickers from my stash here as well.  and as i said, i will send some stickers to the winner -- i have animals, flowers, tea cups and all kinds of goodies to send the lucky person.  good luck!'

As always, tags of all formats are welcome, and I am looking
forward to seeing what YOU create! Have fun!

All creatures great and small

Hi Everybody!

First of all, thanks to all who entered such gorgeous tags into our last
challenge, it's always great to see so many joining in.
I'm sorry to say that our dear Chrissie will be leaving our team, and would
like to thank her for all the lovely tags she made, and the friendly
comments she always made by all participants. We will all miss her a lot.
We will have a new teamie joining us next time, but you will
have to wait till the next challenge to find out more!
This time our lovely Wilma has chosen the theme, so without more ado,
here she is:

'Why "All Creatures Great and Small"?, I hear you ask.  3 October is  the birthday of James Herriott, the pen name of Alf Wight (1916-1995). As a vet, he used his experiences  to create  semi autobiographical novels which were later made into a TV series "All Creatures Great and Small". I have chosen the 'small" to feature on my tags - small creatures ( bird and fish) and small images (postage stamps). There are so many really beautiful images on postage stamps I decided to incorporate them into some torn paper collages for this theme.

The "Zebra Finch" tag has been created from scraps of eco-dyed paper, a used tea bag and a copy of  one of my photos of our neighbourhood ... and the postage stamp.

My second tag on this theme features the rasbora.... a freshwater fish. The tag background is canvas paper with a torn paper collage

Both these tags are super simple but so much fun to make. Hope you enjoy this theme as inspiration to create as stunning tags as you always do.
Best wishes, Wilma'

I hope that Wilma's introduction and lovely tags inspire you
to join us. As always, you have 2 weeks to enter, and tags of
all formats are allowed. Hope to see YOU linking!
Have fun,

Valerie

So, without more ado, here is Joan:

'Hi to all! The theme I've chosen for the next two weeks is
"Steampunk". This is a favorite of mine - I hope
you will enjoy it too!
I am putting my tags together on a chain to form a book.
This is a photo of the cover tag.

And here are a few more of the tags I've done.

Paris

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new theme at Tag Tuesday, and
our lovely Wendy, who is hosting, chose 'Paris', which
is surely a theme that will delight many of us.
This is what she has to say:

'I have chosen Paris as my theme for the next two weeks. A lot of us think of Paris as a romantic city with lots of history and things to see.  I would really like to go to Paris again, (well we can dream can't we), but a tag will have to do for the moment.
My base is some scrap card which I have inked. I then added my images and some flowers and lace.
I love the image of the Eiffel tower with the view through it, and it would be lovely to see you in Paris sometime during the next two weeks.'

As always, tags of all formats are allowed, and you have 2 weeks
to link to us, so hope to see you bringing us some Paris flair.
Have fun!

Thanks to all who entered Michele's lovely challenge of
Back to School, there were some beautiful entries.

'For many children summer holidays are over and it is time to return to school. given the time of year i chose "back to school" as my theme.  here is my tag:

to create this collaged tag i used multiple images from gecko galz including the school days digital collage sheet, the school days digital stamps, and the chalkboard sentiments collage sheet.  there is some background paper by jodie lee designs and a butterfly from my stash.'

Use your scraps

Hi Everybody!

First of all, thanks to all who entered Chrissie's lovely
colour challenge, it was great to see so many varied
entries.  And we have a prize winner, picked out of the hat
by her dear husband Vic, and the winner is:

πŸ™ŒSANDIEπŸ™Œ

Congratulations! Please contact me with your address details using

and Chrissie will get your prize off to you!

I am hosting the new theme, which is
'Use your scraps'.
As always, tags of all formats are welcome,
and you have 2 weeks to join us,
and can link up any theme, colour etc.
I know we all have lots of scraps, images, pieces of ribbon
and lace left over, so get them out, be inspired,
and hope to see you with your creations here at the blog.
I am showing a large mixed media Buddha tag I made . I used various
scraps of corrugated card, painted tyvek, coloured net and some
painted paper as a background. Buddha was fussy cut from an
old postcard and sewn on. I will be showing more tags
each day on my blog, Bastelmania

My second tag is a collage made from tiny scraps mounted
on an old revision card. Once again I used some sewing to hold
everything together:

And now for some good news - there will be a little prize again -
the winner will get a postcard colouring book, a stencil
and some textile roses as well as a couple of my tags:

I hope you have as much fun playing with your scraps as I did,
playing with mine,
and hope to see you linking your tags to us here.

Have fun!

My Favourite Colour Combination

Hi Everybody!

Thanks to all who joined in Wilma's cake challenge and linked
their beautiful entries to us. Today we are starting a new
challenge and our lovely and talented Chrissie is hosting.
And there's a great prize to be won!
Here's what Chrissie has to say:

"Chrissie here with the new challenge

The theme is 'My Favourite Colour Combination', so thinking caps on
and I hope you enjoy joining us

There is a prize this time and the winner will be drawn randomly from the people who make a tag for this challenge.  It is open to anyone anywhere who joins this time

I knitted the owl and he is only 6 inches tall so won't take up a lot of space.

There are a few other things I am adding to the prize, including at least one of my tags made for this challenge.

Purple and yellow go so well together and appear in many flowers. I do love this mix of colours in pansies

The inspiration for this tag was the wonderful cornflower with the beautiful blue and green

Looking forward to seeing your tags and visiting your blogs as well

Have fun
Love Chrissie xx"

Chrissie's knitted animals are legendary and beautiful.
I am the proud owner
of several of them which I have received over
the years, and they are much admired by all.
Good luck to all participants!
As always, tags of all formats are allowed, and you have 2
weeks to link to us.
Hope to see YOU!

Cake

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting a new challenge, and our lovely Wilma is hosting.
She is a very talented artist , and I am happy to see her as
a member of our blog and to see her
sharing her work here.
Here she is to tell you all about it:

" Hello Tuesday Taggers,
It is my turn again - Wilma from Newcastle,  NSW,  Australia.  When Valerie asked me to choose a theme, I am not really sure what I was thinking about at the time - probably something nice for morning tea- so I chose CAKE... I know that you will all find this subject easy to relate to, and will be producing some delicious looking tags. I made three - the first one is  a play on the words "The Icing on the Cake" . On a background of cake paper, I drew an ice skater tentatively balancing on the icing...

As it is close to Bastille Day, I was thinking of the famous saying "Let them eat cake" which has often been attributed to Marie Antoinette. We now know she didn't say that , so perhaps she did say "I'll eat my cake!" - that's what I would have done! This tag is one of my watercolour and ink drawings, with some cut out words from a magazine.

The third tag is the simplest of all - a page from an old magazine, cut out to resemble a window frame, looking in at the woman obviously baking a cake in her kitchen.

Hope these have helped you to create some CAKE tags  and then post your link on this page. Have fun - oh, and eat some cake!'

I am sure you will all be inspired by Wilma's art and words.
And as Wilma said, eat plenty of cake, I am sure it will help, too!
We were very happy that so many joined in again last time,
and are hoping you will have fun joining us again.
As always, you have 2 weeks to link your tags to us, and
tags of all formats are welcome - we are looking forward to
seeing them!

The Beach

Hi Everybody!

Today we are beginning our new, fortnightly challenge, and our lovely
Joan is hosting.
We were all happy to see so many wonderful entries for the last challenge,
and are hoping to see you all again this time round. As
always, tags of all formats are allowed. Here's Joan to tell
you about her challenge:

"Hello and welcome to a new challenge at Tag Tuesday. I've chosen "The Beach" as the theme for the next two weeks. There are so many things to love about a trip to the seashore - playing in the sand, collecting seashells and just enjoying the salty air!
Here is the first tag I made. I used Gecko Galz images for the background and the little boy. The anchor was stamped in blue, edges inked in dark brown and brown ribbon added. The phrase sticker is from Tim Holtz.

My second tag's background was made using Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks. I stamped the seaweed with Ranger Archival ink. The fish was stamped in brown and then fussy cut. The crab is a die cut from my stash. Both the crab and fish were pop dotted to the tag. Finally, I added a phrase die cut and stamped bubbles coming out of the fish's mouth."

Have fun you all, let your imagination run riot,
and hope you are inspired to join us.

Valerie

Our host for this fortnight is our lovely Wendy,
so here she is to tell us about her theme:

'It's my turn to choose the theme for the next two weeks, I can hardly believe my turn has come around again so quickly. The theme is TEXTURE, and you can use anything you like to give your tag texture. It can be texture pastes, buttons, beads, ribbon, fabrics, clay, plastic, yarns etc, if it has texture you can use it.

For mine I used gesso and texture paste to start off. I then painted it with acrylic paint and added threads, beads, buttons, yarn, friendly plastic and clay embellishments, accent beads and ribbon.'

As always, you have 2 weeks to link to us, and tags of all
formats are welcome, so hope to see you here!
Have a good week, have fun,
and thanks for coming by!

Anything goes!

Hi Everybody!

Today we are starting another new challenge, and this
time I am hosting and our theme is anything goes.
This gives you lots of possibilities to let your
creative juices flow in any direction you want.
As always, you have 2 weeks to link to us
and tags of all formats are allowed.
I made a large (10") mixed media tag with many
layers, and, what a surprise, I chose coffee for
my theme.
I used stencils to make the cups, and painted them
with blue/green metallic paint from Vivacolor.
I sewed the various layers together.
The text is from a coffee stamp set,
the highlights were added with a Sakura pen:

And now it's time to announce the winner of
Chrissie's prize draw from the last challenge.
Random Org chose  number 19 -
Gill alias Gibby Frogett.

CONGRATULATIONS!

Chrissie will be sending your prize off asap!

Have a great week, stay creative, and thanks to all
for your support and for the wonderful tags you linked
to our challenge.

Valerie
